It has gotten progressively worse and now when you turn the vehicle it makes a loud metal against metal screech. The left rear chassis makes an odd noise when rolling that Subaru could not diagnose. The starter sometimes grinds when attempting to start the car, Subaru could not diagnose this problem. It has had an odd noise in the engine since the beginning which Subaru claims is normal for this car because it is a "racecar". Several cosmetic parts were defective when the car was purchased such the trunk latch did not function, the back seat was unhooked, the seat lever that moves the seat in half, the cup holder does not function properly, and the head lights fogged up. Please be advised that all servicing is completed at the lancaster Mazda-Subaru location where I live. I bought a 2004 Subaru Impreza wrx sti in July 2003 from bob baker Subaru in el cajon, California and ever since then I have had one problem after the next. I hope nsc can prompt Subaru to cast some light! if this problem is typical - and I gather that it is - I think a recall is needed. Oh and by the way, the fog lights don't help a bit. Would NHTSA please check into this darkness at Subaru? an employee at the car dealership told me his 2008 Subaru has the same problem. They were they are I will - but no matter how immaculate they are, they still cast too little light. Subaru customer service advice? keep the lights clean. The way the low beam headlights are configured, I couldn't see these people until they stepped off the curb. The first evening I drove it, I almost ran over a group of people - and would have if I hadn't been stopped at a stop sign. Its low beams are so dim they're dangerous, and because of them I wish I hadn't bought the car. Is NHTSA aware of how nearly useless the low beam headlights are on some Subarus? I just bought a new 2009 Impreza. On February 24, 2014, the consumer was informed, Subaru would pay 50% for the replacement, as a courtesy because the vehicle was out of warranty. She went back to the auto parts store and purchased another bulb. Soon after, the passenger high beam light would not come on. When the consumer called the dealer to explain the situation, she was given an estimate of $1300 to replace the headlight assemblies. The mechanic informed the her, the headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. But, when the hood was opened, it was discovered both headlight plastic covers had melted. The consumer later went to a lube establishment, to have the driver's side replaced. She purchased a replacement bulb from an auto parts store. However, she did smell a burnt plastic smell coming from her vehicle. The consumer stated on January 24, 2014, the high beam lights would not come on. Re consumer complaint- 2008 Subaru Impreza.
